Taylor House History - Renovation
History | Today | Take a Picture Tour

The two year renovation of the 7200 square foot home began in the fall of 1999 when Deborah and Robert Tucker purchased the Taylor House. The Tuckers restored the original woodwork including the Arts and Crafts oak paneling in the dining room, the three sets of pocket doors in the first floor parlors, the hardwood floors and the grand staircase. The Tuckers retained the boiler heat and the beautifully designed radiators. The house was retrofitted with central air conditioning, as well.

The limestone front porch, port cochere, leaded glass windows, original front door and interior pocket doors are protected architectural features of the home as part of the City of Columbia's Historic Preservation Registry. National Registry designation was granted in June, 2001.
